At Inverness Leisure we want our visitors to have as much fun as possible when they use our swimming pools, however, in order for you and others to be able to have an enjoyable time, it is important that everyone stays safe and aware of their own capabilities as well as those they are visiting with. Therefore in the interests of safety to yourself and other pool users, we ask everyone to observe and note the following restrictions and guidance:
All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult* at all times using the following ratios:
- Children aged 4 and under must be accompanied (one adult* per one child).
- Children aged 5, 6 and 7 must be accompanied (one adult* per 2 children).
Children aged 4 and under will be restricted to the following areas only:
- Toddler Pool
- Leisure Waters – shallow water only and spa pool/river – with flotation device and parental assistance
- Outdoor Pool – with flotation device and parental assistance
- Competition Pool – shallow water only at 1.10m or less
Children aged 5, 6 and 7 who are weak or non-swimmers will be restricted to the following areas:
- Toddler Pool
- Leisure Waters – shallow waters only and spa pool
- River – with floatation device and parental assistance
- Outdoor Pool
- Flumes – accompanying parent should go down first (NB Height restrictions apply of 1.06m)
- Competition Pool – shallow water only (1.10m or less)
Children aged 5, 6 and 7 who are competent swimmers (ie. able to swim at least 25m on their front and tread water for a minute) will be restricted to the following areas:
- Toddler Pool
- Leisure Waters and spa pool
- River – with flotation device
- Outdoor Pool
- Flumes – accompanying adult should go down first (NB height restrictions apply of 1.06m)
- Competition Pool

Splash Session
Please note that every Saturday and Sunday (9.00am – 10.45am) we hold our Splash Session where we supply addition staffing to allow the above policy to be slightly amended. As a result the following ratios are applied at these times only.
- 1 adult* to 2 children for children ages under 5
- 1 adult* to 3 children for children ages 5, 6 or 7
* An adult is deemed as being a responsible person aged 16 years or older.
